Ghani Instructs Health Officials in Fight Against Second Wave of COVID-19

KABUL, Afghanistan – President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, in a meeting Tuesday evening spoke with the provincial heads of the Public Health about safety measure on second wave of the coronavirus, said the Presidential Palace in a statement.
According to the statement, Ghani said the country’s health system must function as a united body, adding the current structure needs to be changed so that we can prevent the crisis of a second wave.
Addressing the government constant attention in fight against coronavirus, the President said Ministry of Public Health should draw up a clear roadmap, including general plan for each province, and identify urgent needs and solutions for the outbreak.
Meanwhile, President Ghani depicted on the importance of communication and management, as well as, principles of the health system throughout Afghanistan, emphasizing on the need for greater coordination in the fight against deadly virus that has put millions of lives worldwide at risk.
“There should be a number of companies that guarantee the quality control of medicines, drugs should be imported from reliable sources, pharmacies should be standardized, the prices of medicines should be written in each medicine, the type of prescriptions should be monitored and investment should be considered in regards to pharmacies,” he guided as ARG wrote.
The President said that health system should encourage investment, adding the increase in hospital beds should be based on the needs and capacity of each medical facility.
Currently, the data by the Ministry of Public Health shows Afghanistan recorded a total of 46,498 cases; of which 1,779 are confirmed dead and a total of 36,788 patients have recovered. (Khaama Press)
