Karzai Says Peace Efforts to Go on

KABUL - President Hamid Karzai has promised the peace process will continue in accordance with the recommendation of last month's traditional Loya Jirga, his office said on Wednesday.

At an overnight consultative meeting former jihadi leaders shared their views about peace talks with the president and stressed the implementation of the Bonn Conference declaration.

Reconciliation Commission chief Sibghatullah Mujaddedi, Senator Syed Ahmad Gilani, Minister of Mines Naimatullah Shahrani, Vice President Mohammad Qasim Fahim, acting Jamiat-i-Islami chairman Salahuddin Rabbani, MP Mohammad Mohaqiq, Senior Minister Hidayat Amin Arsala and other officials attended the meeting.
