KABUL - At least 487civilians have been killed and 1,049 wounded in Taliban attacks during the past three months, said the Ministry of Interior on Saturday.
The ministry in a statement said the Taliban carried out 35 suicide attacks and 507 bomb blasts during the period, killing 487 civilians and wounding another 1,049.
The interior ministry said the Taliban were targeting civilians and public facilities against all values and that the killing of civilians amounted to a war crime and had no justification.
The statement said that the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) had thwarted a number of major Taliban attacks in Kandahar and Helmand provinces during the past month.
The Taliban have not yet commented about the MoI claims, but their spokesman, ZabihullahMujahid, claimed in a statement three days ago that government forces killed and wounded 65 civilians in three attacks in the past week. (Pajhwok)
