Kabul Welcomes NATO’s Conditions-Based Approach

KABUL - Kabul has warmly welcomed the NATO chief’s conditions-based stance on troop withdrawal from Afghanistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), in a statement, hailed Jen Stoltenberg’s support for the ongoing Afghan peace process.
“The MoFA echoes recent remarks by Stoltenberg that “the Taliban must reduce violence, negotiate in good faith and live up to their commitment to stop cooperating with international terrorist groups,” the statement added.
The Afghan government had fully implemented its commitments towards peace, including the release of thousands of Taliban prisoners, the ministry claimed.
“However, the Taliban have failed to meet their obligations to reduce violence, cut ties with terrorist groups and continue talks in good faith,” the ministry alleged.
“We believe that all parties must fulfill their commitments towards the peace process to move forward. We reiterate that a conditions-based approach is essential for the success of the peace process,” the MoFA concluded. (Pajhwok)
