Torkham: Police Officer Fired for Beating Woman

KABUL - A police officer who flogged a woman at the Torkham crossing of eastern Nangarhar province has been permanently sacked, The Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on Sunday.
MoI spokesman Tariq Aryan said laying hand on a woman was a Taliban-like culture and whoever committed such oppression would be dealt with as a terrorist.
He added the ministry had seen the video of the security official flogging a woman in the border town of Torkham. The soldier, identified as Wahab, would not only be sentenced but also permanently removed from his job.
He stressed the police enforced law and worked to professionalize and improve their capacity.
Aryan called police a professional force and any official resorting to harassing people would not be spared. (Pajhwok)
