Human Rights ‘Watchdog’ Urged Warring Parties to End Violence

KABUL - Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission called on all parties involved in the war, to end the violence in the country.
AIHRC in a series of tweets iterated the incident that a woman and her child were killed and further six other civilians were injured when a government forces mortar fire hit them in Sabri district of Khost province early this month.
On March 28th Afghan security forces fired a mortar that hit a residential house in the war affected region.
AIHRC urged warring parties to end the violence by respecting the collective will of the public to reach a just, comprehensive, and prolonged peace.
The human rights watchdog asked the government to investigate the incident so that justice is served for the victims.
Taliban on the other hand reportedly claimed that government forces launched several operations on the residential areas in the region that left many civilians dead and wounded.
This comes as U.S special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad following his arrival in Kabul on Saturday held meetings with President Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah Head of High Council for National Reconciliation.
HCNR in a released statement said, that Khalilzad and Abdullah discussed the peace process and negotiations underway in Doha.
President Ashraf Ghani and Khalilzad US special envoy for Afghan reconciliation also met and discussed the peace process, upcoming Turkey summit, and internal consensus.
Khalilzad also has discussed the latest developments in the peace process with both of the political leaders, and it is expected that a peace proposal will be shared by the Afghan republic at the summit. (Khaama Press)
