Stick to May 1 Pullout Deadline, Taliban Tell US

KABUL - The Taliban have reminded US and NATO troops of leaving Afghanistan by May 1, warning that any violation of the Doha deal will lead to complications.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, tweeted: “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seeks the withdrawal of all foreign forces from our homeland on the date specified in the Doha agreement.”
If the agreement was honoured, Mujahid believed, a pathway to addressing the remaining issues could be found.
However, he cautioned, a breach of last year’s accord and foreign forces’ failure to exit on the stipulated date would worsen the situation.
Those failing to comply with the agreement would be held responsible for the consequences, Mujahid said a day after President Joe Biden’s announcement that all US troops would be pulled out by September 11. (Pajhwok)
