‘Mullah Omar’s Name Not on FBI Wanted List’

KABUL - Taliban Supreme Leader Mullah Mohammad Omar's name has been removed from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigations FBI's most wanted terrorists list, according to reports.
Pakistani media has reported that the US government wanted to encourage the Taliban for peace talks through this move.
The US government has not confirmed or rejected the media reports.
Mullah Omar's name is not currently on the FBI's most wanted terrorists list, however, the US government has not confirmed whether his name was ever on this list.

The Taliban leader's name is still on the US State Department Reward for Justice list, offering $10m for any information leading to his arrest or killing.

Peace talks with the Taliban have been a serious debate over the past few month. US officials have reportedly held secret dialogues with the Taliban over the past ten months and it's said to have reached a "critical juncture".

US has also considered the transfer of an unspecified number of Taliban prisoners from the Guantanamo Bay military prison into Afghan government custody.

At the same time, the US Congress has called on the social media website, Twitter, asking the micro-blogging website to remove the Taliban's account, according to a report published by the British newspaper, the Telegraph.
