KABUL - Senior government officials detained for the charges of corruption and embezzlement, an official said.
Tariq Arian, a spokesperson to the Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement that former governor, former and current mayor for Samangan province have been arrested on Tuesday for the charges of corruption.
According to other sources, Khairullah Anosh, the ex-governor of Samangan, Mohammad Haidar Khurrami the former mayor, and Firoz Tagin the current mayor of Aibak city of Samangan have been detained for the embezzlement of 600 million Afghani government funds.
The suspects have been arrested the special crime branch for anti-corruption. (Khaama Press)
