Ghani, Abdullah Grieve Prof. Bawari’s Death

KABUL - President Ashraf Ghani says Prof. Mohammad Rassoul Bawari left behind an obvious definition of national culture and identity to the nation by writing dozens of books and articles on the preservation of culture heritage and historical monuments.
Prof. Mohammad Rassoul Bawari, a lecturer at Kabul University and acting deputy minister of culture and information, died at the age of 64 due to Covid-19 on Friday night.
About 15 of his books on archeology have been published in Pashto, Dari and English.
President Ghani expressed his grief over the death of Bawari and extended his condolences to his family and friends.
According to a statement from the Presidential Palace the president said Prof. Bawari had trained thousands of students and rendered many services in the field of culture and archeology of the country.
“He (Bawari) left behind a clear definition of national culture and identity to the nation by writing dozens of books and articles to preserve cultural legacy and his death is a huge loss,” Ghani said.
Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the High National Reconciliation Council, also expressed sorrow over Bawari’s death, saying he was a renowned archaeologist, writer and researcher.
Abdullah said that Bawari had written dozens of scientific research works and hundreds of scientific research articles in addition to his sacred duties as a lecturer at Kabul University.
He also called the demise of Prof. Bawari a great loss to the country’s academic arena. (Pajhwok)
