Covid Crisis: Pakistan Closes All Crossings with Afghanistan

KABUL - Pakistan has announced closing all land routes on the Durand Line with Afghanistan for an indefinite period of time due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pakistan’s National Coordination Committee (NCC) said the decision had been taken three days ago in an emergency meeting due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in Afghanistan.
Pakistani citizens in Afghanistan and the Afghans with serious health problems, however, will be allowed to cross the Durand Line if they have negative Covid-19 test results.
Similarly, the Afghans living in Pakistan could return to their country, according to the statement. A decision on the arrival of Afghan students studying in Pakistan who are currently in Afghanistan on vacation will be taken soon.
Earlier Pakistan had closed some borders with Afghanistan due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But this time around, the neighbour has also shut the Spin Boldak crossing. (Pajhwok)
