Gold, Ghee Prices  Down in Kabul

KABUL - Fuel and ghee prices fell while other essential item rates remained unchanged during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said on Sunday.
Mohammad Javid, a jeweller in Lycee Mariam neighbourhood, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold decreased to 3,600afs from 3,700afs. The same quantity of the Russian variety fell to 2,950afs from 3,050afs.
The cost of ghee came down by two percent. Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders’ Union, said the price of a 16-litre tin of Malaysian ghee decreased from 2,000afs to 1,900afs.
Rates of other commodities remained stable, with the wholesale price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakh flour remaining unchanged at 1,600afs, a 24kg sack of Pakistani rice at 2,400afs and a 49-kilogram bag of Indian sugar at 2,300afs.
A kilogram of the Indonesian green tea accounted for 350afs and the same amount of the African black tea for 320afs.
Hamed Sofizada, a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh market, said a 49-kg bag of Kazakh flour cost 1,650afs, a 49-kg sack of Indian sugar 2,400afs and a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice 2,450afs.
Similarly, a 16-litre tin of Malaysian cooking oil cost 1,950afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 370afs and the same quantity of African black tea 350afs.
Fuel price also remained unchanged. A worker at the Hashimi Fuel Station in Taimani area said the price of one litre of diesel stood stable at 51afs and the same quantity of petrol at 50afs.
Mohammad Sharif, a seller in Kalola Pushta locality, said the price of one kilogram of gas stood stable at 55afs.
Haji Hussain, owner of the Sadaqat Money Exchange Service, said one US dollar accounted for 78.55afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 495afs, compared to last week’s rates of 77.30afs and 495afs respectively. (Pajhwok)
