KABUIL - Afghan judicial officials have asked the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to provide to the Attorney General Office evidence of alleged corruption in the Ministry of Defense.
The demand came at a high-level meeting, chaired by President Hamid Karzai, late on Thursday at the Presidential Palace in Kabul.
A statement from Karzai's office said the chief justice, ministers of defense and justice, the national security advisor, the AG and other senior officials attended the meeting.

NATO had failed to give evidence of fund embezzlement at the Sardar Muhammad Dawood Khan Hospital and air command of the Ministry of Defense, the statement added.

Based on NATO information, a report regarding the $42 million corruption in the hospital was published some time ago. The issue figured at the meeting, but participants said they were yet to receive proofs.

The meeting agreed the issue would be checked with NATO headquarters. Any evidence, if found, would handed over to the Attorney General Office for legal action, the statement concluded.
