India to Co-Operate with Afghanistan on Steel, Cement

KABUL - The Afghan Ministry of Mines on Wednesday said that India will co-operate with Afghanistan in the production of cement and steel.
The Afghan ministers of mines and finance have flown to India to sign the agreement with the Indian Ministry of Commerce.

Afghan and India previously signed agreements regarding the development of mines and coal extraction. They are expected to sign more agreements for the production of oil, gas and chemical fertilisers in the near future.

"The agreement will be signed with the Ministry of Mines and a bidding process will be held," ministry spokesman Jawad Omer said.

In October, Afghan President Hamid Karzai signed a strategic agreement with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
