Economic Committee Discusses Industrial Policy of Afghanistan

KABUL - President Hamid Karzai chaired a meeting of the Economic committee discussing industrial policy of the country.
Initiated following previous economic meetings at the presidential palace, the meeting initially discussed the industrial policy of the country freshly prepared that envisages seven priority points about Afghanistan that will be inserted into the export area like marble, woolen goods, carpets and etc.

Issues like creation of industrial parks, provision of permanent energy power and usage of custom traffic for growth of industry and strengthening of exports were evaluated.

The meeting also assessed the contract signed by the private sector in mines area and emphasized that the process of contracts for extraction of mines should take place precisely and the role of the government especially in participation with the private sector should be considered.

It was decided that in the coming meeting discussions should take place on industries replacing imports and areas that Afghanistan has relative potential in exports spheres. (BNA)
