Gilani Renews Support for Afghan Peace Drive

KABUL - President Hamid Karzai and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday discussed Pakistan's support for the peace process in Afghanistan.
During a telephone conversation, Karzai thanked Gilani for the good discussions that the Afghan delegation had during its recent visit to Islamabad.

He hailed the talks as productive and said "good decisions were made" during his trip to Islamabad in mid-February. However, he called for translating those decision into action.
Without elaborating on the decisions, the president also informed his interlocutor of the discussions he recently held in Tajikistan with President Zardari on the sidelines of the RECCA summit.

He went on to hail as good news the 5th meeting of the Core Group (Afghanistan, the US and Pakistan) in Dushanbe, a statement from the Presidential Palace in Kabul said.

Gilani reaffirmed his government's commitment to the decisions taken during President Karzai's trip to Islamabad and said Pakistan would continue to cooperate with the Afghanistan peace process.

Karzai invited Gilani to visit Afghanistan at his earliest convenience. (Pajhwok)
