Afghanistan’s Stability Discussed in Astana

ASTANA - Strengthening of the borders with Afghanistan was discussed at a meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's Council of Foreign Ministers in Astana, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov said at a press briefing in Astana on Friday.

"Today strengthening of the borders with Afghanistan was discussed within the meeting. First of all, consolidating the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan was discussed, as Tajikistan is quite an active member of the CSTO," Kazykhanov said.

He said Afghanistan remains one of the problematic points in Central Asia. Kazykhanov assured that Kazakhstan, which currently presides over the CSTO, it will 'pay further attention to this matter'.

"We will act only together and through collective efforts to try to contribute to the stabilization in this long suffering country," Kazykhanov said. (Agencies)
