KABUL - Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq, the member of Afghanistan's lower house of parliament and the leader of People's Unity Party of Afghanistan has severely condemned the systematic killing of Hazaras in Quetta city of Pakistan.
The killing of Hazaras in Quetta city of Pakistan has been accelerated recently with the death of almost 30 innocent people within just few weeks.
In a statement released on Saturday, April 14, 2012, he mentioned that the killings of innocent Hazaras seem to have no end and the efforts to curb the situation have not proved to be circumstantial.

He said that he had discussions on the matter with the Pakistani authorities earlier but there have not been determined efforts in this regard and the situation seems to be deteriorating with each passing day. Now such incidents occur on daily basis and many guiltless people are murdered in cold blood. He also said that he has written a letter to Pakistani President and Prime Minister in this regard.

Balochistan's Provincial government, he mentioned, has not been able to curb the situation; therefore he demanded from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan to take personal notice of the killings and put an end to such ruthless killings.

The systematic killings of Hazaras in Quetta, Pakistan have been occurring since 2001 and so far more than 700 Hazaras have been killed. On most of the occasions the banned Lashkar-e-Jangavi has claimed the responsibility but there have not been serious measures against the group. The beliefs that there are culprits within Pakistani security agencies favoring the group seem to be gaining strength.

Mohaqiq also emphasized that there should be immediate action in this regard and the culprits must be punished according to the law. He also pointed towards the need for pointing out the culprits from within the security establishment.
