KABUL – As part of its on-going corporate social responsibility drive, Etisalat Afghanistan, the fastest growing cellular operator in Afghanistan in collaboration with Directorate of Information & Culture, Nangarhar has organized the Women for Peace Poetry competition in Jalalabad.
Nangarhar is famous for its historical background in poetry and has produced many famous poets over the years in the country with the likes of Malang Jan, Gul Pacha Ulfat & Moosa Shafiq.
Directorate of Information and Culture of Nangarhar Provincial Government holds this yearly competition for female poets. This year Etisalat Afghanistan sponsored this competition which was attended by a large fraternity of female poets, famous poets of East Region, eminent writers, journalists, as well as prominent community and Government representatives and Members of Parliament.
The objective was to encourage female poetry, promoting the talent and a chance to share their thoughts and ideas about life and society. Lately poetry and other art mediums in the country have been lacking support and required assistance from relevant quarters necessary to keep the art alive and spreading peace and love through poetry.
Since its launch in 2007, Etisalat Afghanistan has upheld its commitment and dedication in serving the community by playing an active role as a socially responsible entity, re-affirming company's strong belief in being part of the Afghan society in areas important to their needs.
Mr. Rasool Rasikh, famous writer and poet distributed gifts among the female poets.
