Ghazni Student Invents Math Formula

GHAZNI CITY - A high school student in Ghazni city has invented a mathematical formula that was approved by the centre for science in Kabul, officials said on Saturday.
Khalilullah Yaqubi is an 11th grade student at the Albiruni high school of Nawabad on the outskirts of Ghazni city and a resident of Ghaghori district of the province.

It was a pride for Ghazni and the nation that a student invented a mathematical formula, the deputy governor, Mohammad Ali Ahmadi, said while addressing a ceremony held to honor Yaqubi. He asked the student to work hard for the country's bright future and also urged education officials to provide higher education facilities for innovative students.

The formula was first examined by the science department of education and then sent to capital Kabul where it was also approved, the deputy director of education, Abdul Qudoos Rasuli said. They would try to provide a scholarship for Yaqubi to obtain higher education abroad, he said.

"I invented the formula after a week of hard struggle without using any book or internet," Yaqubi said, adding the formula was about algebra.

The formula was first sent to the World Philosophical Mathematics Research Center in Kabul, where it was approved by the head of the centre, Siddique Afghan, who also sent him an appreciation letter, he added. He asked the education ministry and department to assist him to pursue his higher education abroad. (Pajhwok)
