KABUL - Etisalat Afghanistan, the first operator to launch 3.75G services in Afghanistan and part of Etisalat Telecommunications Group UAE, on Sunday has signed an agreement to support the game of Buzkashi in Afghanistan. A signing ceremony was held today at Etisalat office involving CEO Buzkashi Federation, Haji Abdul Rasheed Dara, Senior Officials of Buzkashi Federation and Afghanistan Olympic Committee as well as representatives of Etisalat Afghanistan and members of national and regional media.
The agreement was signed by Haji Abdul Rasheed Dara, CEO Afghanistan Buzkashi Federation and Yasser Aboul Amayem, Chief Marketing Officer, Etisalat Afghanistan. This agreement entails support to Buzkashi Federation for the next three years by Etisalat Afghanistan. Etisalat has been declared official partner of Buzkashi in Afghanistan by the Federation.
The new agreement shall enable Buzkashi Federation to organize the sports in Kabul and other regions of the country. Each year Buzkashi Federation will be holding five (5) tournaments in Kabul province as well as a National Buzkashi championship during Nawroz. One Championship each in Kunduz province, Badakshan and Panjsher will be held year on year for the next three years.

Buzkashi (goat dragging) is an equestrian game played primarily by Turkic peoples of northern Afghanistan. The ancient game of Buzkashi has great historical importance and is a part of Afghan life and its rich traditions dating back to ancient period.
