Obama Praises Crocker’s Services in Afghanistan

KABUL - US President Barack Obama on Saturday met with the country's outgoing ambassador to Afghanistan, Ryan Crocker, in the Oval Office to receive an update on the situation in that country.
Obama thanked Crocker for what he called "superb leadership of the United States efforts in Afghanistan," a statement from the White House said.

"Crocker has served at a critical time, and thanks to his work, the United States --- has cemented a long-term partnership with the Afghan people that allows us to responsibly wind down the war as the Afghan government stands up to take full responsibility for their security," Obama said.

He added Ambassador Crocker's tireless and passionate focus on achieving US objectives in Afghanistan had kept them safer and more secure. Crocket completed another chapter in an unmatched career of diplomatic service in the most challenging postings.

"Crocker will depart his role as the US ambassador to Afghanistan with the president's and the nation's great thanks and admiration," the statement concluded. (Pajhwok)
