KABUL - President Hamid Karzai blamed the United States and NATO forces for triggering insecurity in the country.
The president made the remarks during an exclusive interview with US television channel -- NBC News -- on Thursday.

"Part of the insecurity is coming to us from the structures that NATO and America created in Afghanistan," Karzai told NBC.
The interview was held at the Presidential Palace in capital Kabul.

On the same note, he also admitted that insurgent groups were responsible for much of the violence across Afghanistan.
Some 100,000 foreign forces, under the US-led NATO command, are still on Afghan soil trying to quell the decade-old insurgency, where thousands of innocent Afghan civilians have lost their lives.

In the interview, Karzai also warned that his administration would not sign any security pacts with the US, a key ally, unless all Afghan prisoners held under the American custody in Afghanistan are handed over to local authorities.

He said the imprisonment of Afghan nationals was a violation of an agreement between him and US President Barack Obama inked last March.

The president also told NBC that he does not thin Al-Qaeda has a base in Afghanistan.

Karzai's sharp criticism comes as NATO Foreign Ministers meeting concluded in Brussels, where the future of Afghanistan, especially its fragile peace, was widely discussed, and NATO reaffirmed to fund Afghan security forces. (Pajhwok)
