UNAMA Hosts Intra-Afghan Consultations

UNAMA Hosts Intra-Afghan Consultations

KABUL - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has convened consultation meetings in preparation for an inclusive intra-Afghan dialogue. This dialogue is non-official (Track II) and intended to provide members of the Afghan Nation with the opportunity to informally present and discuss their future visions of Afghanistan.

These consultations engaged representatives of civil society, women's groups, political leaders and religious figures to obtain their views on how the Track II Dialogue process should be organized. UNAMA's role in the process is limited to hosting the meetings and facilitating dialogue among Afghans of all political stances and backgrounds.

The Track II initiative and these consultations are in line with the provisions of UNAMA's mandate to support an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned process of peace and reconciliation. (PR)
