KABUL - President Hamid Karzai on Sunday assured Afghan people there will not be any major changes beyond 2014 after NATO troops pullout and confirmed that Afghanistan will become a better nation and a proper presidential election will be organized.

President Karzai’s remarks comes amid growing concerns regarding the future of Afghanistan beyond 2014 after all NATO combat troops leave the country.

There are also reports regarding a reduction in investments in Afghanistan due to possibility of violence after 2014 however president Hamid Karzai said that the economy of Afghanistan will boost after 2014 and the country’s untapped natural resources will pave the way for the development of Afghanistan.

President Karzai also slammed Taliban for killing innocent civilians, describing the Taliban-led insurgency as breach to Islamic values.

“Yesterday, the terror attacks in Kabul and Khost for which Taliban claimed responsibility would neither serve Afghanistan nor Islam,” Karzai said told a ceremony attended by government functionaries, social and political figures to mark the International Women’s Day.

He also accused the Taliban and the U.S. of working in concert to convince Afghans that violence will worsen if most foreign troops leave as planned by the end of next year.

Karzai said two suicide bombings that killed 19 people on Saturday – one outside the Afghan Defense Ministry and the other near a police checkpoint in eastern Khost province – show the insurgent group is conducting attacks to help show that international forces will still be needed to keep the peace after their current combat mission ends in 2014.
