Karzai Stresses Joint Efforts against Terror

KABUL - President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday condemned an attack on the election campaign of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) party in Pakistan, the Presidential Palace said.

During a telephone conversation with JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rahman, Karzai denounced Monday’s blast in Kurram Agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Twenty-three people were killed and 30 others wounded in the bomb attack on the public meeting of Munir Orakzai, a former lawmaker and JUI-F candidate.

Calling terrorism the enemy of humanity, Karzai explained the scourge had affected peoples on both sides of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, a statement from his office said.

Stressing urgent steps to combat terrorism, Karzai hoped Pakistan would honestly cooperate with his country in eliminating the threat from the region. (Pajhwok)
