Religious Scholars Term Suicide Attack as ‘Haram’

KABUL - A number of religious scholars in the Balkh province consider the killing of civilians and suicide attacks un-Islamic.

At a gathering the religious scholars termed the suicide attacks as 'an unforgivable sin'.

Meanwhile, participants of the gathering asked the people to actively participate in the next presidential elections.

The gathering was organized in the Balkh province to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the martyrdom of the members of Islamic Movement of Afghanistan in Kabul Pul-e-Charkhi jail.

Mawlawi Assadullah Hazratyar, member of the Balkh Scholar's Council said, "Murdering is haram (unlawful) and the murderer's place is in hell. All the suicide attacks in which hundreds of people are killed, is haram and against the Islamic Sharia law."

Meanwhile, with the opening of the voter's registration centers, the scholars at the gathering said that the people should consider participating in the elections as a religious responsibility and asked the people to contribute during the election process.

Mawlawi Abdul Ahad Ahadi, a religious scholar said, "The people must participate in the election and elect their President- a person who is an honest Muslim."

The religious scholars expressed their concerns over the increasing administrative corruption and injustice within the judicial organs and said that these reasons pave the way for insecurity within the country. (Tolo News)
