Moral Corruption on its Peak: Mujaddedi

Moral Corruption on its Peak: Mujaddedi

KABUL - Former president and jihadi leader Hazrat Sibghatullah Mujaddedi on Saturday said “moral corruption has reached its peak point in Afghanistan” and the government should prevent it.

“Alcoholic beverages are sold openly in Band-i-Qargha (Qarghai lake) and rooms are built for prostitution. People take women to the lake for immoral acts, but the government is indifferent in this regard,” Mujaddedi told a gathering remembering a prominent peace negotiator Maulvi Arsalan Rahmani. Rahaman was shot dead on May 13, 2012 in Kabul.

Mujaddedi said the level of moral corruption was extremely high in the country, asking the people not be involved and instead struggle to banish moral corruption from Afghan society. “It is the duty of government to take urgent measures against corruption, especially moral corruption,” the former jihad leader and founder of the Afghan National Libration Front said.

However, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, Ghulam Siddique Siddiqui denied any immoral activities at the Qarghai reservoir. During a telephonic chat with Pajhwok Afghan News, he said police would not allow such things at the picnic resort. He said Afghanistan lacked good ulema and there were some religious leaders who loved money more than Shariah or the country. (Pajhwok)
