KABUL - The Free and Fair Elections Forum of Afghanistan (FEFA) on Wednesday welcomed the presidential endorsement of a law on the structure, duties and authority of election bodies.

A statement from FEFA said it considered the law approval a step forward toward legitimizing the poll panels and a positive approach toward transparency of the electoral process.

“FEFA acknowledges the efforts made by members of parliament, civil society organisations, political parties and media in introducing appropriate recommendations for the improvement of the law.”

The forum thanked President Karzai for endorsing the law, urging the government to take appropriate measures and formulate a monitoring mechanism for better implementation of the measure.

FEFA said it believed the approval and endorsement of this law besides other factors shall play a significant and efficient role in holding transparent and fair elections. (Pajhwok)
