Indo-Pak Thaw Vital to Afghan Peace: Cameron

KABUL - The British prime minister has urged cooperation between Pakistan and India in bringing back peace and stability to Afghanistan.

David Cameron, in an interview published on Thursday, praised the sub-continental rivals for taking steps to revive dialogue and improve bilateral ties.

Cameron told the Asian Lite newspaper better Indo-Pak relations were the cornerstone for regional peace and prosperity. "India and Pakistan can play a crucial role in bringing peace back in Afghanistan."

He asked both countries to recognize the fact that a stable, prosperous and democratic Afghanistan was in their interests too. He hailed Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as an experienced politician who believed in better relations with India.

“Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh takes a similar view. I hope these two statesmen can act in the interest of both their countries and also the world, fostering better Indo-Pak relations,” Cameron remarked. (Pajhwok)
