Afghan Passport Least Credible in World

Afghan Passport Least Credible in World

KABUL  - Afghanistan’s passport is the worst in the world in terms of the travel freedom enjoyed by its citizens, a UK-based organization said survey on Wednesday.

In its Visa Restriction Index for 2013, Henley & Partners to rank countries put Afghanistan at the rock bottom in the last place. The ranking is based on the visa-free entry of citizens.

Visa regulations around the globe are analyzed to determine results. Pakistan shared its ranking with Somalia, beating Iraq and Afghanistan, which came in 93rd. The Afghan had access to only 28 countries without a visa. Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom share the first place as their citizens can travel to 173 countries without visas. This is the first time a global ranking shows the international travel freedom of citizens of various countries.

Approached for comments, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Janan Mosazai told Pajhwok Afghan News the process of distribution of diplomatic and service passports had been initiated based on a modern computerized system.

The new passports were more credible, he said, refusing to comment on the latest Henley and Partners survey, where Afghanistan had been ranked as 93rd. (Pajhwok)
