Trilateral Summit in Ankara on Feb. 12

KABUL - A trilateral meeting involving leaders from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey will be held next week in Ankara.

According to Pakistani media reports, the tripartite summit will take place in the Turkish capital on February 12.

Sources said Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would depart Islamabad for Ankara on Thursday to attend the crucial meeting.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul will host a dinner on Thursday in honor of his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai and Sharif.

Next morning, the three leaders will meet on issues of common interest. Sharif and Karzai will also hold a separate meeting on the sideline of the summit.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office said the meeting agenda was being worked out. However, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet commented.

It may be recalled that seven trilateral meetings have taken place among the leaders of the three countries. The forum was formed in 2007. (Pajhwok)
