Khalili Assures of  Free-Interference Presidential Poll

KABUL - Second-Vice President, Mohammad Karim Khalili in meeting with Turkish new ambassador to Afghanistan discussed bilateral relations with a confirmation of holding a fair process for the April elections.

At the meeting, the Turkish ambassador besides expressing sympathy over the demise of Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim and stressing for continued cooperation of his country with Afghanistan described the coming elections as significant for the political transfer in Afghanistan.

Calling the coming presidential and provincial councils polls the most important, he pointed out the transparent and nationwide elections to be essential for ensuring peace and progress in the country.

The Turkish diplomat also praised the people and government of Afghanistan for achievements, they made in the past decade.

For his part, Khalili congratulated the ambassador over assuming office and hoped the cooperation between Turkey and Afghanistan get further developed during his mission.

The second vice president also thanked Turkey for its contribution towards rebuilding process and strengthening security of Afghanistan and termed Turkey as a good friend of Afghans.

Khalili also said that the coming elections will be held without intervention from national and international bodies, saying holding elections is the only way to help secure political transition in the country. (WNA)'
