Top Security Officials Summoned to Lower House

KABUL - Top security officials were summoned to the lower house of parliament on Saturday to answer questions related to security for the upcoming elections that is scheduled to be held on Saturday April 5, 2014.

The Minister of Defense Gen. Bismillah Mohammadi while talking to members of parliament said a number of particular groups abroad are attempting to disrupt the presidential and provincial council's elections.

"The Afghan security forces are fully prepared to provide security for the elections," Mohammadi said. "I am confident that Election Day will be success, although the enemy has escalated attacks, they will remain ashamed."

Top security officials assured they are ready to provide security for elections.

"We are a group of capable and unified security forces," Minister of Interior Mohammad Omar Daudzai said.

Meanwhile the acting chairman of National Directorate of Security Rahmatullah Nabil says, that Pakistan's intelligence agency has published fake voting cards in an aim to disrupt elections fairness.

"Pakistan's intelligence agency and other groups are printing voting cards to build anarchy and tension," Nabil said.

Afghan security officials expressed satisfaction about the security of the elections and have promised to be impartial during the election process and focus on the security for the day. (Tolonews)
