Bamyan Residents Frustrated by Long Wait

BAMYAN CITY - Some people in central Bamyan province on Saturday afternoon left electoral sites without voting as a result of continued rush, officials said.

Thousands of people are waiting in lines at different electoral sites in Bamyan City, the provincial capital, to cast their votes.

However, the disorganised process of voting and lack of polling stations frustrated a number of people into quitting voter lines and going back to their homes.

A 55 year old woman, Fatima, while returning from a voting centre, told Pajhwok Afghan News she had come out to use her vote, but could not do so due to rush.

On the other hand, a number of people in Kabul, Samangan and Daikundi provinces who have come out of their residences to vote for future president complain about quality of ink in some electoral sites.

Some residents of Khak-i-Jabar district in Kabul complain that the ink in Malang village is of low quality which is erasable in no time. Pajhwok Afghan News reporter at the site confirms that the ink used to paint voters’ finger is erasable.

A similar problem was observed at a number of electoral sites in Aibak, the capital of northern Samangan province. Fida Mohammad said when he used his vote; his finger’s ink vanished as he washed it.

Pajhwok reporter present at a provincial electoral sites said he has received similar reports regarding the problem from other electoral sites as well.

Meanwhile, residents of central Daikundi province also complain that after they voted their figure ink was easily erased when they simply washed it with water. (Pajhwok)
