Education is the Remedy

Dear Editor,
Education is the foundation for civilization and development of any society. Illiteracy leads to many social catastrophes including narrow-mindedness and fundamentalist conservatives. Afghanistan is a society still at the stage of its preliminary days of evolution towards a civilized and modern society. Three decades of war have fully destroyed this country with 25 years of war, and 1.5 million killed and 4.5 million displaced. Literacy is almost nil in rural and urban parts of Afghanistan. A major reason behind the security instability, insurgency and religious extremism is because people are uneducated.

International community should give priority to education if they want long-term stability and real development in Afghanistan. If education is spread among the population, there would be employment opportunities, people would be aware of their rights.
Best Regards
