Kabul: One of World’s Worst Polluted City

Dear Editor,
Air pollution is one of the worst killers in Kabul city that cause various kinds of diseases and take many lives as it is considered to be one of the world's polluted cities.
A Kabul residents says that "Air pollution is just a huge problem here; it leads to so many diseases - respiratory diseases, allergies, miscarriages and even cancer, every morning we weak up, we just breath dust instead of a fresh air." In addition, it is estimated that some 3,000 people die from pollution-induced illnesses in Kabul yearly making them the biggest cause of natural death in this city of 3.500 million. Every day, nearly 80 percent of Kabul's hospital patients suffer from diseases caused by polluted air and water.

Mainly the causes are to be due to the worst condition of the roads in the city, improper sanitations and other pavements the government wanted to build are still reaming with their worst condition.
Such heavy air pollution can cause or exacerbate numbers of serious diseases among inhabitants of the Kabul. These diseases include Ischemic Heart diseases, stroke, hypertension, and a number of respiratory disease and birth defects. Those who are at highest risk of being affected by air pollution are mainly the children, the elderly and patients who already have diabetes, heart disease and respiratory disease.

Ministry of Public Health delivers health services impartially and without any form of discrimination to the needy people of Kabul city in all corners of the country and requests all parties to work on roads and sanitations properly.
