Kiev has vowed to make pro-Russian rebels pay after losing 23 servicemen in clashes across the separatists east. The Ukrainian defense ministry said on Friday the death toll included 19 troops killed in a hail of rockets fired from a truck-mounted Grad rocket launcher system — a type of weapon both Kiev and Washington insist could only have been covertly supplied to the rebels by Russia. The official spokesman of Ukraine’s intensifying eastern assault added that 93 servicemen had sustained “wounds and contusions of varying severity”.
“The rebels will pay for the life of every one of our servicemen with tens and hundreds of their own,” Ukraine’s Western-backed President Petro Poroshenko told an emergency security meeting. Not a single terrorist will avoid responsibility and every single one of them will get their just desserts”, he added. 1 and re-launched an offensive that managed to dislodge the militias from key eastern strongholds they had under control since early April. Meanwhile the military separately spoke of “eliminating” nearly 100 fighters in one of Ukraine’s bloodiest days since the start of the crisis last November when anti-government protests spiraled into revolution and a protracted standoff with pro-Russian rebels.
Presently Moscow is pushing for UN resolution demanding ceasefire between new government and pro-Russian rebels. It does not seem that Ukraine once again becomes the same country as it was. Because on both sides there is no enough resolve to develop a national government. No one can dispute that a legitimate government was ousted by continuous demonstrations perhaps due to economic problems. The previous government came to power through very democratic means and there was no extensive vote-rigging to undermine the legitimacy of the government. Victor Yanukovych was dismissed by the parliament on February when security forces shot dead some of the protestors.
Initially despite series of demonstration MPs never reached into a conclusion to disqualify him as President. But the dead of some protesters sparked anger and even his supporters switched side because murder which was new for European new generation. No body that thought that such action not only resolves the Ukraine crisis but would break out far deadlier crisis. Presently murder of individuals does not seem strange. Both sides have taken up arms and shoot one another dead without caring about the future of country’s unity.
For now there seems no end to present detrimental crisis moving to change into bloody civil war between Ukraine citizens. Neither West-backed government nor Moscow-backed rebels to work on way out of the problem. Both sides try their best to undermine the strength of the opposite and weaken it and thereafter negotiate from a strong status.
Indubitably, this view is not going to work. Both have strong supporters and would not face weapon shortage if resolved to stand. With each person killed and blood shed, the gap gets deepen between eastern and western part. The hatred will grow and necessarily the chances for a national government declines. The chances to go out of the crisis get lesser. Perhaps in the coming months, we would witness tens of people killed and thousands forced to flee the country. Ukraine citizens stuck in the rivalry between Moscow and NATO. And it will change into a blood drop in the Europe map.
The holy Quran tells Muslims to learn from the history. Even if part of people are illiterate and cannot go and flip the pages to read the history, they can simply look around and see how human beings are combustible. Ukraine is far developer country and almost equivalent to undeveloped Eastern European countries. But the situation changed in such a speed that the country is burning in fire and citizens do not know how to get rid of the mess created by collapse of the government. When the reach to conclusion that war is not a solution and they only will get burned in the crisis, it will take years and gap between citizens have already taken strong roots.
We Afghans must learn that there is no impossibility of reversal move. We experienced the bitter taste of civil war and continuous instability. We killed hundreds of thousands of each other as every corner of the country bears the signs of murder and massacre. Unfortunately, I cannot agree with Mr. President that a reversal move is not possible and the country is on the right track and it only moves ahead not back.
After losing hundreds of thousands of millions fled the country, indubitably Afghans are tired of war and want to have peace. But this boredom and tiredness from war does not ensure that we will not experience a new phase of bloodshed once again. Any wrong move can drag the country the hell. No matter if major part of the people are not in mood to wage war. The communal differences have remained enough strong. If only few evil individuals fuel the beneath communal problem, people will be easily dragged to battlefield or even will be forced to do so in order to survive. In another word, they will be forced to kill in order to remain alive.
Unfortunately, both candidates in the runoff presidential election are responsible for anything which drags the country into hell. Their present has already started pulling the country toward the edge of cliff. They are engaged in power struggle and will sacrifice thousands of lives for going to the palace fooling people that they are doing so for their votes. it would be so kind of both that the only thing should do for people is just limiting their insatiable desire for power that is all what people want. They do not want them to start bloodshed for the sake of their ballot paper.
