Can We Imagine a Rape Free Society?

Today, the world is witnessing a horrific scenario of crime, violence, rape and killing which destroys the very pillars of social order which sustain peace, tolerance, harmony and human dignity. Around the world, rape and sexual abuse are everyday violent occurrences affecting close to a billion women and girls over their lifetimes. However, despite the pervasiveness of these crimes, laws are insufficient, inconsistent, not systematically enforced and, sometimes, promote violence and rape.
Globally, governments, institutions and judiciaries are trying to make an end all forms of violence against women and girls, including sexual violence rape and killing, but it is coming as counter product, rather than to combat the ratio of crimes on modern days. One of the worst or worst crimes in our world is rape. Rape is conceived as something that happens in the wild which places men who rape beyond the pale of society.
In this scenario, can we image a rape free society?  Does the world have any law that can protect women from sexual violence? Does the world have any system that provides women human dignity in real sense? Does the world any ideology that combats the rape crime and root out from the society?
Society must be protected from the activities of criminals and hoodlums. Social life must be peaceful and devoid of insecurity. Can we have to free our society and country from this disgusting mentality of rape? Is this possible or only remained house of dream?  A rape-free society is, relatively, easy to imagine, but hard to find it and materialize practically.
The root cause of the rape is sexual lust and that needs to be controlled strictly in number of ways.  We must deconstruct patriarchal value system and reconstruct universal value system which accords dignity to both the sexes and considers woman as fully dignified individual of the society. A woman must be treated with dignity and honour performing all her human functions like man including her biological functions and enjoying equal status with man.
Islam has dignified and honoured women by providing and defining for them the rights and responsibilities in all aspects of life. Islam has provided effective social security for women by securing for them provisions and means of support throughout their lives.
Rape is considered as most serious heinous crime in Islam, and is closely linked to peace and harmony of human life. Islam caters to people’s need for peace and serenity and therefore takes every legal measure to safeguard the society against disruptive elements. Criminal behaviour is not tolerated in the Islamic order of society
Islam stands out distinctly among the religions of the world in that its punishment and retribution laws are applied under exclusive rules and regulations. Islam ensures proportionality between crime and punishment. Islamic concept of punishment is perfectly justified as Islam not only takes every possible measure to prevent crimes but also inculcates commendable moral scruples in the criminals.
Islam develops a strong sense of moral community, where religion is an influential social force generating social sanctions and that this contributes to a low crime rate. Islamic criminal law holds accountability only those alive persons who are under responsibility. The punishment serves as an example to the rest of the society and it puts others on notice that criminal behaviour will not be tolerated.
Islam has given women the protection and security they need which they had lacked through the centuries and which they still lack in many so-called civilized societies that claim to uphold human rights. Islam doesn’t tolerate any form of assault and harassment.
The main object of punishment in Islam is to prevent the commission of crime. For this purpose Islam provides a system of imposing harsh punishment on the criminals. Islamic law educate the people about the outcome of the punishment and thus prevent and deter them from committing the crimes.
Capital punishment is considered to serve the main objectives of punishment. When a criminal is given a capital punishment, it dissuades not only the offender from repeating the crime but also deters others who have criminal tendencies. Islamic law is the perfect law for the prevention of crime like rape and killing.
Islam has a comprehensive system and law to combat the heinous crime like rape and killing. It is Islam which has a concrete solution to eradicate the phenomenon of crimes and thus, create a rape free society.
