Only few hours passed from the start of new solar year, the message tone of my mobile rang. When I checked there was a message from security department of organization where I work about unknown shootings in the vicinity of Serena hotel, at the heart of Kabul city. The small incidents have become so widespread that often attract no attention. Considering the tight security of the only five star hotel, I never thought such unknown light shootings might do anything to guests inside the hotel. Only sharing the story with friends, we just kept busy in our celebration of the festival.
The day after when I checked the newspaper found out that however the firings were not heavy but so tragic. Four armed men could easily manage to pass all three security gets and open fire on the guests inside. So far it has become evident that four foreign men and two women were killed inside the hotel along with unconfirmed numbers of guards and employers of the hotel. It is not clear who were they and what they were doing in the country.
In addition, the most tragic part of the incident was the murder of an Afghan journalist by the name of Sardar. On the very night, he was having dinner with his wife, two daughters and a son. Based on bullets in the body of his children, it was revealed his children were not stuck in the firings and got killed; rather they were targeted deliberately. One of his daughters who lost live in the hospital got six bullets in her body which showed that terrorists deliberately targeted those innocent children. They committed no sin except being the children of Sardar whose sin was working as journalist. Such obnoxious activity reflected the philosophy of those who are behind promoting hatred and disgust. Based on this philosophy no one deserves to live except those who follow their ideology. Anyone irrespective of their sex and age is criminal and should be erased from the surface of the earth. In other words, they view the world as black and white. Anything which relates them is white and the opposite is black that must be eliminated. Their mission is purification of the world from the existence of anybody and anything which is deemed not aligned to their ideology.
While Kabul residents were burning in anger and mourning for the death of family of Sardar and the rest of people who were killed in the incident, Taliban proudly claimed the responsibility through releasing a declaration in media. It says that their devotees made a huge blast at the front gate of the hotel and subsequently made their way inside the hotel with light and heavy weapons. Later on, hidden cameras of the hotel revealed a complete different story which entirely contradicts the allegation of Taliban militants. Based on video released and shared in social networks, four individuals who looked completely suspicious and did not look similar to common customers of five star hotel. They were wearing the Afghani cloth and did not look clean enough to fool the security guards. They looked much like a common individuals who do not pay or do not have the amount of money to pay for a five star hotel. So, the first question has remained unanswered is why they were not questioned why on the earth they want to have dinner or stay in a luxurious hotel?
Secondly, their boots were so huge and did not fit their feet. So, why the guards of such hotel which already came under attack twice are so unprofessional that cannot suspect terrorists, given their psychological disorder and fearful movements? Thirdly, how they could pass security gate which detects even a single coin?
If the attack was made somewhere else, it might have remained veiled in suspicion or branded highly complex attack. But the video shows that there was no complex attack rather happened due to compromise of security guards. They even did not check them properly, otherwise how it was possible that seven guns along with their bullets be taken inside the hotel?
Still there are various questions that should be answered. Security officials told to media that a private security company was responsible for the security of the hotel. It is possible that officials of the company came under investigation of possibly having hands with terrorists. There is also murmuring about recording a video of the hotel.
Anyhow, it is evident that Taliban have not carried out the attack not because of complexity usually claimed in deadly attacks rather their lack of awareness reveal the reality. If they were behind the attack, they might have provided accurate information to media for creating trauma to disrupt the upcoming elections.
But what made me disappointed was a mild tone of Afghan officials against Taliban. They told that Taliban was not behind the incident rather it was carried out by intelligence service of the neighboring country. Ok, fine. But it should not become an issue to draw a friendlier picture of Taliban militants. Taliban and al-Qaeda are one and the same. Taliban often showed that they are far cruel than terrorist of Serena Hotel who shot innocent children. Additionally, they proudly claimed the responsibility which indeed show their evil faces. They support such incidents and rather feel sorry for not being able to do so.
Therefore, considering that particular attacks are carried out by intelligent service of other countries but it does not mean that Taliban are good. They are far worse and would do far bloodier attacks if they find chance.
